Juan Cabrera, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I am an advocate for social justice and aspire to reduce stigma related to mental health disorders. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or a life transition, therapy can work for you. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy and my goal is to support you in your journey back to wholeness, healing, and personal growth. You have a voice that deserves to be heard and story that deserves to be told. Lets work together to create the change you desire for your life.
I utilize techniques from person-centered therapy such as empathy, concreteness, and unconditional positive regard. Also, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to challenge unproductive assumptions, negative thoughts, and cognitive distortions. I employ motivational interviewing to build a strong therapeutic relationship to help you overcome barriers to your mental and emotional wellness.
I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy providing therapeutic services to immigrants and first-generation families that might be having difficulty adjusting due to acculturation issues. Also, my work includes bringing awareness to injustices that directly impact students, educators and families in our community.
