Joshua Thao, ASW
Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker
Supervised by Leilani Mitchell, LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #127220

I am an Asian American therapist with a refugee family background, and I bring both personal and professional understanding to the work I do. My experiences have shaped my commitment to providing culturally responsive, compassionate care to individuals from diverse communities.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over eight years working in mental health as a case manager and provider, supporting individuals with complex needs. This experience continues to inform my approach today—meeting clients where they are, understanding the bigger picture of their lives, and providing practical, meaningful support.
I specialize in working with individuals experiencing depression and anxiety. I understand how overwhelming it can feel when emotions begin to impact daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. My goal is to help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, build tools to manage challenges, and move toward the life you want.
I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, heard, and respected. I strive to create a space that is non-judgmental, open, and grounded in trust. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach—together, we will explore what works best for you and your unique experiences.
I am passionate about helping clients reconnect with their strengths and find their own path forward, because healing doesn’t happen all at once.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for something to change, you don’t have to navigate it alone. When you’re ready, we can take that next step together—at your pace, in a way that feels right for you.
